This 20g gold bar, from the Royal Mint, celebrates the Chinese god of wealth, Guan Gong. He symbolises integrity, loyalty and is seen as a guardian who brings protection and luck. He is worshipped by millions of people in China, where small shrines with statues are common in restaurants and shops. The bar is a thoughtful way of celebrating Chinese New Year. The bar has been designed in collaboration with a senior lecturer in Chinese Studies, Wei Shao. The design focuses on Guan Gong’s distinctive features. Guan Gong is wearing the armour of a warrior general. In his right hand he is carrying his signature blade, Green Dragon Crescent Blade and in his left hand is a sycee, a type of currency used in Imperial China. The bar ranges between polished and frosted finishes. The bars are sealed in official Royal Mint, secure blister packaging along with a unique serial number. These bars are preowned.
