This celebration sovereign, dated 2019, marks the 200th Anniversary of the Birth of Prince Albert. As he was not a king in his own right, he was given the title of Prince Consort in recognition of his important role during his marriage to Queen Victoria. They had nine children and he often assisted with her working duties during her pregnancies. He campaigned for better conditions for the working class in Britain and abolition of slavery. He was a respected patron of art, science and trade and industry. This sovereign was struck on 26th August 2019 to mark the anniversary and bears a special privy mark inspired by the pairs entwined monograms, this was to symbolise how inseparable Albert and Victoria were. In 1817 as part of a reform of coinage, the modern sovereign was introduced, with Benedetto Pistrucci’s classic portrayal of St. George slaying the dragon. The initials ‘BP’ can be found on the base under the hoof of the horse. The obverse of the coin features Jody Clark’s portrait of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. This coin is struck in Brilliant Uncirculated matte finish. The sovereign is one of the most recognisable coins in the world. We offer a Click & Collect service for buyers who would prefer to collect their items from our premises in central London. Click & Collect orders can only be paid for by bank transfer, and our bank details are provided when the option to collect is chosen from the checkout page.
We ask all customers who are collecting to bring either a passport or full UK Driving Licence photocard with them when collecting, any weekday from 9.30am to 5pm.
Collections can only be made by the named buyer of the item in question.

All customer holdings are held in trust at a secure facility in central London, and customers can add to, withdraw from or sell from their account during business hours. Our standard charge is 1%+Vat of the holdings’ spot value annually, which is re-invoiced every November.
