The Republic of Turkey has a plethora of interesting gold coins. With history spanning back thousands of years and an empire ranging from Persia to Europe, no other country has married together the middle east and the west so successfully. From the end of Byzantine empire into the Ottoman empire, Turkey have produced many distinctive coins. Turkish gold coins include: the Altin, Mahbub and Kurush. The Kurush coins are the coins we deal with most frequently and they are sometimes known as Mecidi, named after Abdul Mejid, the pioneer of Turkish currency reforms.
