The most recent Queen’s Beast coin (the second coin this year to be made in 2017) is a continuation of the heraldic beasts that are present during the Monarch's coronation.
This particular Queen's Beast is the emblematic Celtic dragon - the Red Dragon of Cadwallader which is the very familiar emblem of Wales. The Welsh dragon first featured on the Royal Arms in the sixteenth century. This is the third in a series of ten designs that will celebrate each of The Queen’s Beasts.
