The Lion of England (2016) is the first of ten designs in the Royal Mints: Queen’s Beast bullion range. It is one troy ounce of 999.9 fine gold (24ct) and also has a face value of £100.
This range is in recognition of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, when she surpassed Queen Victoria as the longest reigning Monarch on the 9th September 2015. These will feature the ten heraldic beasts that stood guard at Queen Elizabeth II's coronation. The original casts are now held in the Canadian Museum of History in Quebec.
These coins benefit from being Capital Gains Tax (CGT) Free. All UK gold and silver bullion coins manufactured by the Royal Mint are legal tender and are exempt from Capital Gains Tax.
Earlier coins in the Queen’s Beast series are limited edition and may have to be purchased individually.
