The first one ounce gold Britannia was minted in 1987, with a face value of £100. Pre-2013 Britannias are 22ct and contain one troy ounce of gold, this is the case for most Royal Mint coins produced up until 2012.In 2013 the Royal Mint decided to produce the 1oz gold Britannia in 24ct, as opposed to 22ct. The actual gold content of the pre-2013 gold Britannias remains the same however.
Please note that the date of the Britannia you receive may vary and will be randomly selected, but all coins will be in good condition. Please call or email us to enquire about what dates we have available.
These coins also benefit from being Capital Gains Tax (CGT) free. All UK gold and silver bullion coins manufactured by the Royal Mint are legal tender and are exempt from Capital Gains Tax.
