The chains around the Unicorn symbolised the great mythical creature tamed to serve the King. The Unicorn was adopted into the Royal Heraldry when James the VI of Scotland became James I of England, uniting the two great countries under the one Monarch.
The Quarter Ounce Unicorn of Scotland 2017 is struck in highest 999.9 / 24 carat gold by the Royal Mint. This coin has a denomination of £25 and features designs of the Queen's Beast and a portrait of the Queen by Jody Clark.
The maximum coin mintage was 1,500 with in the Limited Edition Presentation.
The coin comes with Certificate of Authenticity, The Queen's Beasts booklet, wooden box, outer box and sleeve.
These "Beast Britannia" gold coins are 24 carat or 999.9 fine and are also Capital Gains Exempt, just like standard Britannia and Lunar equivalents.
