The Victoria Old Head Sovereign was produced between 1893 and her death in 1901. The Old Head coins were designed by Thomas Brock. These coins officially displayed a later portrait of Queen Victoria and on the reverse, officially removed the previous design of the shield and adopted Benedetto Pistrucci's earlier design of St. George and the Dragon, which is still in use today.
