Overview

Chilean coins are minted by the "Casa de Moneda" in Chile, and the 50 peso was issued between 1926 and 1980. The coin features the Chilean coat of arms on one side - a starred shield, flanked by the Andean Condor (national bird of Chile) and the Andean Huemul (an endemic deer). Both animals have naval crowns, celebrating the Chilean Navy's prowess in the South Pacific. The obverse of the coin features a Chilean representation of Lady Liberty.

Mexican Dos y medio Pesos Gold Coin

Out of Stock

The Mexican gold 2.5 pesos used to be a very popular small bullion coin before fractional Krugerrands were introduced in 1980. Apart from investors and collectors, we used to sell large quantities to jewellery manufacturers for use in jewellery, particularly ear-rings, where their small size (13.0 mms), and low weight (2.08 grams) made them ideal. Dated from 1918 to 1948, the 1945 date is the easiest to find. We believe these are still officially restruck using this date. Krause shows a substantial quantity of 180,000 as having been minted.

Austrian 25 Schilling Gold Coin

In Stock

The Austrian 25 schilling coin was released in 1926, not long after the re-formation of Austria as an independent state following the end of the First World War. The Austrian First Republic moved away from the pre-war coinage (Ducats/Coronas/Florins) and issued the 25 and 100 schilling coins which remained in place until the Second World War. The original 25 schilling coin features the famous Austrian Eagle coat of arms holding the hammer and sickle and is more regularly seen than the second version released in 1935 featuring the double-headed Eagle.

Austrian 4 Ducat

Out of Stock

This 4 Ducat coin is produced by the Viennese Mint in Austria. A particularly interesting detail about this coin is that the carat of the gold is much higher than other European gold coins. They are produced in 23.6 carat (a fineness of 0.986). It is a large coin but it is not very thick. Ducat coins have been issued in Austria since at least 1612. The last regular issue of Ducats was in 1914, and all the 4 Ducats dated 1915 are restrikes. Four ducat coins dated 1915 are still being produced by the Austrian Mint today. The design shows the laureate head of Emperor Franz Joseph I on the obverse and an image of the crowned imperial eagle on the reverse.
