The eighth coin in the Queen's Beasts Series is the White Lion of Mortimer 2020 and is a continuation of the heraldic beasts that are present during the Monarch's coronation.
The White Lion is the second lion to appear in the series, however this lion represents discipline and loyalty. The shield is held by the lion and displays a white rose encircled by a golden sun, this was deemed to be a good luck in battle and was an important badge to Edward IV. The White Lion is another beast that came to the Queen through Edward IV, this originated from the heiress of the Mortimers, his grandmother.
The coin is 24-carat (or 999.9 purity) and contains one quarter ounce of gold.
These coins benefit from being Capital Gains Tax (CGT) Free. All UK gold and silver bullion coins manufactured by the Royal Mint are legal tender and are exempt from Capital Gains Tax.
Earlier coins in the Queen’s Beast series are limited edition and may have to be purchased individually.
