The quarter ounce pure gold White Horse of Hanover 2020 is the ninth in the series of the Queen’s Beast.
The detailed shield is split into four and references Britain, France Ireland and Hanover. In 1714 the throne was passed to George of Hanover (George I). He brought with him the representations of the region, this included the white horse. The White Horse is displayed as standing up, this is so it can be differentiated from the galloping German horse of Hanover.
