The Unicorn of Scotland has always had a coronet around its neck like a collar with a gold chain attached. The chains around the Unicorn symbolised the great mythical creature tamed to serve the King. The Unicorn was adopted into the Royal Heraldry when James the VI of Scotland became James I of England, uniting the two great countries under the one Monarch.

The Quarter Ounce Unicorn of Scotland 2017 is struck in highest 999.9 / 24 carat gold by the Royal Mint. This coin has a denomination of £25 and features designs of the Queen's Beast and a portrait of the Queen by Jody Clark.

The maximum coin mintage was 1,500 with in the Limited Edition Presentation.

The coin comes with Certificate of Authenticity, The Queen's Beasts booklet, wooden box, outer box and sleeve.

These "Beast Britannia" gold coins are 24 carat or 999.9 fine and are also Capital Gains Exempt, just like standard Britannia and Lunar equivalents.

1911-1932 George V Sovereign

Out of Stock

The George V Sovereign was minted by the Royal Mint from 1911-1932. George V reigned during a turbulent era for the Royal family and Great Britain. He reigned throughout World War I and during the Great Depression. It is for this reason that the production of the George V sovereigns was sporadic and does not span the duration of his reign, unlike his predecessors. These coins display a portrait of George V and on the reverse Benedetto Pistrucci's design of St. George and the Dragon. George V is remembered for changing the British Royal House from Saxe-Coburg and Gotha to Windsor in 1917. H.G Wells notoriously wrote about the Royals' Germanic connection, stating it as an "alien and uninspiring court", George V famously replied: "I may be uninspiring, but I'll be damned if I'm alien!".
