Overview

The Spanish 25 peseta gold coin was first minted in 1871 whilst Amadeo I was King of Spain, but the more commonly seen coin are those minted under the reign of Alfonso XII, ranging from 1876 until 1885, who appears on the obverse. The reverse features the Spanish Royal Arms.

The coin features the Chilean coat of arms on one side - a starred shield, flanked by the Andean Condor (national bird of Chile) and the Andean Huemul (an endemic deer).
